How to Store and Reheat Prepared Meals Safely
Maximizing Freshness
Receiving a fridge full of freshly prepped meals is a great feeling. To ensure they taste just as good on day four as they do on day one, proper storage and reheating techniques are critical.
1. The Golden Rule of Storage: Temperature Control
As soon as your Indian Tiffin Service delivery arrives, place your meals directly into the refrigerator. Your fridge should be set to 4°C (40°F) or below. Do not leave meals sitting on the counter. When properly refrigerated, our vacuum-sealed and tightly packed containers stay incredibly fresh for up to 5 days.
2. To Freeze or Not to Freeze?
While you can freeze our meals, we generally advise against it. Freezing alters the cellular structure of proteins (especially paneer and chicken) and vegetables, leading to a mushy texture upon thawing. Because we deliver fresh multiple times a week, you should never need to freeze your tiffin.
3. The Perfect Reheat (Microwave)
- Vent the Lid: Always crack the lid open slightly to allow steam to escape.
- The 2-Minute Rule: Microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes. Stop, stir the curries to distribute heat evenly, and microwave for another 30-60 seconds if needed.
- Internal Temp: Ensure the food is steaming hot throughout before consumption.
Safety First, Taste Always.
